Barbara Skubic (Slovenia) is a playwright, publicist and translator from Arabic and English. Thanks to her translations of contemporary Arab literature, Slovenian readers can read, among other things, “The Yacoubian Building” by the famous Egyptian writer Alaa Al-Aswany and “Cairo Trilogy” by Naguib Mahfouz, the only Arab Nobel Prize winner for literature. She’s also translated poems by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish and the Egyptian poet Iman Mersal, and short stories by Mansoura Ez Eldin (Egypt), Mohamed Zefzaf (Morocco), Tayib Salih (Sudan) and others

Tatjana Paić-Vukić studied Arabic language and literature and Turkish language and literature at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. She obtained her master’s in Arabic literature and doctorate in history from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. At present, she is a senior research associate at the Archives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb and the curator of the Archive’s Collection of Oriental manuscripts. Her research interests include various subjects in Oriental philology and the cultural history of Ottoman Bosnia (Islamic manuscripts, collections of Islamic manuscripts, book culture, codicology etc.)
